Last Christmas, we had the pleasure of photographing and filming a lovely Indian family who travelled from Manchester to London to celebrate a very special milestone: their 10th wedding anniversary.

The couple, who have been living in Manchester for around three years, both work as doctors within the UK healthcare system. They travelled to London with their adorable and energetic little daughter, combining their anniversary celebration with a memorable London family photography and videography experience.
For the husband, this was more than simply a photography session. He wanted to give his wife a meaningful anniversary gift: professional photographs and a beautiful video that would preserve their family's memories for many years to come.

We spent around four hours together exploring some of the most recognisable locations in central London, surrounded by the magical Christmas atmosphere.
Getting Ready at Zedwell Piccadilly Circus

We first met the family at Zedwell Piccadilly Circus, where they were getting ready for their special day.
Their daughter was already full of energy, bringing plenty of fun and laughter to the beginning of our family photography and videography session.
While they were getting ready, we helped them choose and coordinate their outfits. They wanted to combine beautiful traditional Indian clothing with modern Western outfits, giving us several different styles and moods to capture throughout the day.
The modern interior and stylish reception area of Zedwell Piccadilly Circus also provided a lovely starting point for some photographs before we headed outside.
Christmas Family Photography at Trafalgar Square
We began our outdoor London family photography session just before sunset. We wanted to capture some natural daylight before the Christmas lights and evening atmosphere became the main feature of our photographs.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square, where the Christmas decorations and festive atmosphere provided a wonderful London backdrop.
We photographed the whole family together, as well as individual portraits of the couple and their daughter. We also captured plenty of natural interactions between them, allowing their personalities and family connection to come through rather than making every photograph feel posed.
From Trafalgar Square, we continued towards Leicester Square and Covent Garden, enjoying the Christmas atmosphere and photographing the family amongst the lights, decorations and lively streets of central London.
Exploring Covent Garden and Leicester Square
Christmas in London creates such a unique atmosphere for family photography.
The lights, decorations, architecture and busy streets provide countless opportunities for photographs that feel distinctly London.
As we walked through Covent Garden and Leicester Square, we captured a mixture of family portraits, couple photographs and candid moments with their little daughter.
She brought so much energy to the session that there was never a dull moment!
For us, these natural family interactions are just as important as the formal portraits. Years later, photographs showing a child's personality and the way a family interacts can become some of the most treasured memories.
A Second Outfit and Hotel Café Royal
After exploring central London, we returned to Zedwell Piccadilly Circus for another outfit change.
We then continued to one of London's most elegant and iconic hotels, Hotel Café Royal, located in the heart of Piccadilly.
The family enjoyed a beautiful traditional English afternoon tea, presented on an elegant three-tier stand with sandwiches and desserts, accompanied by classic champagne glasses.
This gave us a completely different setting from the outdoor Christmas photography.
As the couple raised their champagne glasses to celebrate ten years of marriage, we captured their anniversary celebration through both professional photography and videography.
It was a particularly fun moment because our professional lighting equipment attracted quite a bit of attention from people passing outside the hotel. Some people seemed to wonder whether they were looking at a special celebration taking place!
Romantic Anniversary Photography on Regent Street
After their celebration at Hotel Café Royal, we continued towards Regent Street.
With London's famous Christmas lights stretching above the street, it created an especially romantic setting for their 10th wedding anniversary photography.
We photographed the couple walking together, embracing and sharing romantic moments beneath the Christmas decorations.
One of our favourite moments was capturing them sharing a romantic kiss in the middle of the pavement while vehicles passed along Regent Street beside them.
The combination of their natural chemistry, the Christmas lights, London's architecture and the movement of the street created a wonderfully cinematic atmosphere for their anniversary photographs and video.
Classic London Portraits Around Hyde Park
For the final part of the session, the family travelled towards Hyde Park in their own luxury car.
They wanted to create a more sophisticated set of photographs with an elegant, classic British feel, so their car became an important part of the final portraits.
We photographed the couple and family around the vehicle, creating a different visual style from the colourful Christmas scenes in central London.
The final photographs had a more timeless and luxurious London feel, giving their four-hour photography and videography experience a beautiful variety of locations and styles.
Four Hours of London Family Photography and Videography
Although our session lasted around four hours, we covered a lot of London together.
Apart from the final Hyde Park section, much of the experience was completed on foot while we carried our professional cameras, lenses, lighting equipment and other photography gear.
We moved between Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Covent Garden and Regent Street before continuing to Hotel Café Royal and finally Hyde Park.
It was certainly a busy and physically tiring session, but it was also great fun.
Most importantly, the family were relaxed, friendly and enjoyable to work with, and their daughter's energy brought an extra sense of fun to the whole experience.
Why London Makes Such a Wonderful Anniversary Photography Location
London offers an incredible variety of backgrounds for anniversary photography and family photography.
Within a relatively small area, we can move from historic architecture and famous squares to elegant streets, Christmas decorations, luxury hotels and beautiful parks.
For this family, we were able to combine traditional Indian clothing, modern Western outfits, Christmas London, English afternoon tea, champagne, romantic couple portraits and classic British-style photographs into one experience.
This variety is one of the reasons we love photographing families and couples in London.

Although the family now live in Manchester, they chose London for this special anniversary experience.
Travelling from Manchester gave them the opportunity to turn their anniversary into a memorable London family adventure rather than simply having a conventional anniversary celebration.
