3 common mistakes in choosing wedding dresses (from photography point of view)

To choose a suitable wedding dress which allows you to show off your character and curves is simple, but many brides may not know how different their dream dresses will look when they are being photographed. As a photographer and bridal style enthusiast, I want to share with you a lot of tips. Let me start with the common mistakes brides make which will affect the looks on the photos.

1. Picked the wrong choice of fabric

Why is it important? You cannot really see the material on the photos right? Not really! Different materials behave differently when you move. Look for the materials suitable for your big event is essential. Here are a few examples. Light weight silk chiffon gives a flowy airy feeling. It is suitable for beach wedding particularly. On the contrary, heavy satin gives classic elegant feeling. It has natural shine which bounces light quite well. Organza is another popular material for making wedding dresses. It can be sheer or heavy, it is lovely material for making structural dresses, however, you may want to take extra care, since creases can be formed easily. And obviously you do not want them showed on the photos.

2. Picked wrong dress for body shape

A simple tips for every girls: No matter what type of body you have, try to use the dress to balance upper body and lower body and reach the hourglass shape. For example, if you have pear shape body, try to have a dress which has more embellishment on upper body, but less busy from the waist line downwards. For apple shape ladies, v-neck and belt are the elements you may want to look for on the dresses. V-neck flatters your curve and the belt can give an illusion that you have a smaller waist. If you have athletic type of body, like an inverted triangle, you can try hooked neck dresses since the straps give the illusion that you have narrower shoulders. And you can have fuller skirt part to balance the upper body.

3. Forgot under garments

I have seen many budget wedding dresses with poor foams for the bust part. Just like putting two bowls there with no support function. Either the bridal shop or dress alternator taking You will need to invest a little bit in proper under garments which not only enhance your body shape, but to eliminate the chance of having the dress look separated from the body.

Don't forget accessories can help enhancing the total look. Photographers particularly like long veils because they can create mood and effects, but, don't forget to choose one that matches with your dress.
